Day 2 of our Carnival Glory Experience
Friday, January 26
Up at 7 am and dragged ourselves to our complimentary breakfast. Have turned the page and are keeping an open mind about the hotel. Coffee is provided in the lobby and not in the breakfast room for some reason. We try to get coffee but wouldn't you know it, it is empty. We go to our carbohydrate only breakfast. The only other thing than a carbohydrate are over-ripe bananas which are basically inedible. Mini muffins and mini bagels, white bread, and hot pancakes made out of a machine. We opt for the bagels but they are too small to go in the toaster. One would think they would atleast have peanut butter, but, that is a protein and this is carbs all the way. Well, what do you expect from a 2 star hotel? We are not deterred.
However, I do have GERD and I had no pillow support the previous night. I need to have my head raised a little bit more, so, after breakfast, we stop at the lobby and request an extra pillow. No problem and that will be sent right up to us. Excellent.
We check out the pool and determine "not on our lives". We were hoping to spend the day exploring Miami but it was cloudy and rainy so we opted to read. It stopped raining at about noonish so we went for a walk to have lunch and explore our neighbourhood. It was a short walk so that should tell you about the neighbourhood. Since we never got the pillow, we stopped back at the desk asking for a pillow. We were assured it would be sent up. At 2:30 pm, we phoned down to the lobby to track the progress of the pillow. No answer. I could continue to tell you more stories about our hotel, but, I will just give you the trailer, "it was a nightmare". At 3:30 pm, a housekeeper knocked on the door. We assumed it was about the pillow, but she had no knowledge of that request. But, she indicated that she didn't have time to get another pillow right away but she would bring it in about an hour. This will shock you but I never got that pillow.
We braved the rain to have a little supper and contently read the rest of the evening.
