7New and Exciting

And just like that, it feels like a spring thaw.  Not in the literal sense, well, maybe in the literal sense.  But, for me, the long "winter" of the last two years seems behind me.  Yes, we have "re-opened" in almost all aspects of society but it has still felt different from before.  It almost felt like my life would always be in two different modules:  before covid and after covid.

But, then something happened yesterday that was exciting.  It was a sign to me that life doesn't have to be an inward as it has been over the last two years.  There is opportunity for seeds to be planted and who knows what may grow.  While no one really knows what our future holds, I became excited about the future and possibilities.

I met a new couple.  That in itself is exciting.  Meeting new people.  Something I really haven't done in a while.  Hearing new stories and learning new things.

Meeting a new couple who live in a different province.  If this was a few years ago, that wouldn't be a big deal.  Who would have known that we took for granted our ability to meet new people and to expand our social circle.  But, we did.  I know I did.  I didn't realize how often I just "met" people, how often I had the opportunity to just meet people.  And, then it changed.  Believe me, I treasured the people in my circle, but, when you talk to new people, you hear different perspectives and it just seems you grow a little from that experience.

So, I met a new couple.  And, I heard about there lives and it charged my batteries.  Two people working in the corporate world and finding success.  Then, in 2017, they came up with an idea for a business.  They started talking and the next thing you know, they quit their jobs and opened a business.  Well, it wasn't just like that.  They came up with a plan and then a plan for the plan.

I can't tell you how much I admire entrepreneurs.  It is something that I could never do.  To take an idea and then to make it happen.  And to make it happen with all that it entails, business licences, incorporation, internet presence, accounting, marketing, software development, and on and on.  That is really hard work.  They say when you are self-employed, you only have to work half-days.  From what I know of those who are self-employed, that is true.  Yes, apparently, you get to pick which 12 hours in a day you want to work.

So, meeting a couple who have started a business together, grew the business, survived the two years of Covid, and now are emerging out that other side still excited was so refreshing.  And, their relationship is strong.  That in itself in invigorating.

Meeting new people.  Hearing new ideas.  Sharing experiences.  Talking about what is going on in the world.  Listening to different perspectives.  Actually laughing out loud as opposed to texting lol.  Something I would have taken for granted two years ago.  Now, it just seems so exciting and wonderful.  It seems like planting a seed and now waiting to see what grows.

Life is already good, and I happen to thing, it is about to get really good.  Open your mind and heart and let it be filled.
