Trouble in the White House?
When I speak of trouble in the White House, I'm not talking about goes on downstairs in the offices. We all know that is a unmitigated disaster.
I'm talking about upstairs. I think there is finally some faint hope that the President will be brought down. I suggested a few months ago that the only hope was Melania, and I think she is showing subtle signs that she is getting ready to bring him down.
Teflon Trump has survived the Stormy Daniels scandal. We've moved on to other things, but, there is signs that it affected Melania, particularly after the allegation that he was with Stormy shortly after she delivered her son. For one thing, Melania has not been seen in public with Donald since their New Year's Eve Party.
This includes the State of the Union address. For the State of the Union address, Melania and Donald arrived in separate motorcades. This is in contrast with Michelle and Barrack who walked together to the Capital Building for 8 years. The previous 8 years, George and Laura did the same walk together.
Melania said she wanted to ride with her invited guests to give them lots of exposure. She entered the room with only 1:30 to her husband's speech. I think this was purposeful to make him sweat to wonder whether she was actually coming.
And her choice of wardrobe was a stunning white pantsuit with a flowing white blouse. Last year, the women Senators and the women Congressman were urged to wear a white pantsuit in solidarity to women voters and in solidarity to women making accusations. The fact that she wore that outfit to the State of the Union was certainly not an accident.
Normally, after the State of the Union speech the President and First Lady hold a reception in the White House. This time Donald had a reception and so did Melania, just not together. She and Mrs. Pence held a small meet and greet with their guests from the State of the Union. Melania said she wanted an intimate environment where she could really get to know them.
I don't know what the future brings, but, I have a feeling that Melania has a plan. She might be taking some advice from the first Mrs. Trump. In a cameo appearance of the movie First Wives Club, she said, "Don't get angry, get everything."
