A Square Inch Piece of Glass

I believe in and respect the power of the universe.  I believe the universe is sending us messages all the time.  It is up to us to listen and interpret the message.

Last night, I couldn't sleep.  For some reason, I was irritated by this.  It is actually quiet natural to feel irritated when you have an occasional sleepless night.  However, for me, it is the norm.  I can't sleep most nights.  But, for some reason, I was irritated by this.  I think because it came after a full day of irritants.  Nothing in particular happened, but everything irritated me.  My sweetie would look at me the wrong way and I would express my irritation.  And, it was one of those days, that every way he looked at me was the wrong way.  Yet, I was equally irritated if he did not look at me.

I knew I was choosing to be a Debbie Downer, yet, couldn't manage to "positive affirmations" my way out of this funk.

About 4 in the morning, I went to the bathroom.  I looked down and there was a square inch piece of glass about a millimeter from my foot.

Almost a week ago, a picture fell on the floor in the bathroom and the frame and the glass shattered.  These things happen.  I wasn't irritated about that.  I carefully swept up all the glass.   Then, I left it for an hour and came back and swept again in case I missed any tiny pieces.  Then, I did it a third time the next day, just to be sure.  I didn't want any bare feet on a tiny char of glass.

And, a week later, I was looking at a pretty substantial piece of glass right by my bare feet.  How could I have missed such a big piece?  Well, I don't think I missed it.  I think the universe put it there at that time to send me a message.  All the things I was irritated by were trivial.  I could have had a serious cut to my foot.  Worse, my perfect grandson could have gotten a serious cut to his precious feet.  That didn't happen.  The glass was found before it could hurt someone.  My life is good.

The universe is always sending us messages.  This one was easy to interpret.  Don't sweat the small stuff or you will be given something legitimate to sweat.  It is just common sense.
