Self-isolating or have we just given up?
We went out for breakfast today. As soon as we sat down, a young couple was seated across from us. After we listened to them for a while, it became apparent that they were on the first date. It is not like we were trying to eavesdrop, it is just that the young lady spoke very loudly and also when she sat down the first words out of her mouth were, "so, I don't know if I am problem drinker, but....." You just kind of have to listen.
The young man got in the occasional "uh-huh" otherwise never got to hear the sound of his voice.
So, as we were munching on our eggs, we learned about what books she has read, how she used to chronicle the books that she has read, everything she has streamed over the last two weeks, her sleeping patterns, every move from every residence that she has resided in, and what video games she is currently plays. Strangely, I don't know what she does for a living, Of course, I can't attest to the veracity of anything she said. She could have just been babbling out of nerves being on a first date.
While talking about her sleep patterns, she casually mentioned that she had to get up early, with little sleep, one day this week so she could be at a Covid test centre for 9 am when they opened so she wouldn't have to wait hours to have her test done.
I have to admit my ears were perked but that is all she said about Covid19.
She appeared to have no symptoms but something led her to being tested within the last week. Maybe she was turned away and given a rapid test and tested negative. Maybe she was tested and awaiting test results. Maybe she was tested and had been informed that she was negative.
Regardless, something within the last week led her to go to a Covid19 test centre with the intention of being tested. One would think she was exhibiting symptoms or had been a close contact. With either scenario, am I correct to think that she should be self-isolating? I guess we are on the honour system now. Or are we? I honestly don't even know. No contact tracing and many cases being unreported. And, like I said, she appeared to be asymptomatic. Certainly, had to problem with her air supply.
Plus, the government of our biggest province plus the federal government have all signalled that all restrictions are coming to an end. Maybe not all. The masks are likely here to stay.
I guess it is what we suspected. The virus is never going away, we are all going to get it at some point, Just hope that you catch a mild case, or an vaccinated, or otherwise healthy, or are lucky
It is what it is.
