A New Start for Trump
Over the last week, we have seen a side of President Donald Trump that we have not seen before. It is the boring side of him. He has been silent. The only thing he has said in the last few days has been that he is not going to get a dog because he feels that would be phony on his part. Wow. Something authentic coming out of him. He is accepting a loss on his wall funding getting a limited amount of something labelled border security. His Press Secretary is saying that he may not sign, but, he will. He doesn't want to go through another shut-down. He is letting his aides do their job and he is doing whatever it is that he does, but keeping silent. The media is just rerunning stories of stupid things he has said in the past. Of course, there is no shortage of that.
My favorite stupid thing he said during the shut-down was that banks and grocery stores will work with the government workers to make sure their bills were paid. I am very loyal to my grocery store and I am even loyal to certain cashiers and I sometimes stand in line longer just to get them. Right after Trump said that, I stood in line to get my favorite cashier. He was as pleasant and as happy as ever. We chatted while he was ringing up my bill. When he finished and announced my total and asked how I would be paying, I responded, "Work with me on this one." He looked at me with a blank stare.
Anyway, maybe this new boring Trump will be here to stay. I would settle for even a month. I'm trying to be positive. Maybe enough people have scattered seeds that are now beginning to grow with him. Maybe it is a new start for him. It is Valentine's Day. A day we can all believe in love and miracles. Maybe, it is possible.
