You Meet The Nicest People !!!

We are opening a daycare !!!   Just kidding.  But, we could.  The picture contains a small portion of our spare bedroom.  It is over-run with boxes and boxes and bags and bags.  I am glad our grandson is not coming for a couple of weeks because it will take that long to go through all of these treasures, all of them are in excellent condition.  No, we didn't rob the neighbourhood.  One of our friends put out a call on social media that his two boys had outgrown many of their toys and clothes and were looking for a worthy home.  I answered that call, but I never could have anticipated getting such a haul.  After my grandson is done with them, I have already picked out the charity that will get these treasures.

The parents who are raising their two incredible boys who played all this stuff are two of the nicest people I know.  Believe me, I said that even before they passed down part of their history to me.

I have known for a few years and I have always admired them.  They are just nice people.  I like reading about their journey raising their two boys.  I like how supportive they are of each other.  I see them a few times a year at a club that we mutually belong.  Both of them always notice that my hair is a different colour or length or whatever it is.  Both of them smile easily.  They care about people.  They are the type of people that welcome new faces into their home.  I just feel the world is a better place because of Miguel and Crystal.  They are simply good people and good friends.

When I was a kid, it was easy to make friends.  You just had to go to the park or walk to school and you accumulated friends.

When my kids were little, it was also easy to make friends.  You became with the parents of your children's friends.

Now, we all work too much and work too hard.  We all become tired more easily it seems.  The internet has changed the way we live.  We don't have to go out shopping anymore, we can order online.  We don't have to go out to the movies anymore, because we can watch whatever we want at home.  Unless we are making friends online, it is more challenging to make friends.  We all suspicious of each other so we just don't talk to people we don't know.  Many of us don't even know our neighbours.

If I was not a member of the River Club, I would never have met these amazing people who passed down all these toys.  As I type this, my hair looks absolutely ravishing.  Another friend in the River Club recommended her hairdresser to me.  Also, through the River Club, I have a woman who sells perogies and cabbage rolls to me.  That is really hard to find.  When I think of it, I have met the most wonderful friends through the River Club.

My partner and I also participate in a trivia league.  We have made several friends through that league.  (Unfortunately, we have also made a few frenemies.  I can't help it.  I'm too competitive for my own good.)

That is just two of the clubs we belong.  We have a very hectic calendar due to our clubs and our volunteer activities.  And, we have met the nicest people.  I have to tell you that when we get home from work, we have no desire to go out again.  It seems like a lot of work to change, put on a coat, all that stuff.  But, we talk each other into it.  We venture out, and we meet the nicest people.

Meet Up is a great app that contains so many clubs and activities.  Stop reading this.  Stop scrolling.  Get out there.  Become involved.  You will meet the nicest people.
