"Those People"

Right now, President Trump is speaking following the NY attack yesterday.  He notes that America is too politically correct and that has to stop in order to stop terrorism.  He calls the American penal system a joke.  He spends a couple of minutes ranting about political correctness and then turns his attention to economics.  He uses the word "I" more times than I can count.  He also announces that he  is going to stop the Immigration Diversity Program.

Canada and the United States have always had different philosophical approaches to immigration.  The US has traditionally been a "melting pot" where it wants citizens to adopt "traditional" American values first and foremost.  In contrast, Canada has tried to be a "mosaic" by encouraging people to continue to celebrate their own cultures and traditions.

While Trump was ranting about the dangers of political correctness, Canada was announcing their 5 year immigration society.  Canada wants to attain 300,000 immigrants per year.  The Canadian Business Council doesn't think this is enough and we should be aiming for 450,000 per year.  Immigration not only enriches Canada culturally, but it also makes good business sense, and is needed for our economy.

We won't be able to fund our Canadian Pension Plan without this infusion of immigrants contributing to such.  Ironically, the old farts who traditionally our resistant to change and resistant to immigration, will be owing their livelihood to immigrants.

I am a very proud Canadian.  I also take great pride in my culture of origin and I love experiencing and learning more about other cultures.

I am also really looking forward to the realization of the Caucasian males, who have never known what it is like to be in a minority class and faced discrimination, that they are now "those people."
