Trump leaves on helicopter for Thanksgiving Vacation

As the former reality star who is currently occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Ave (sometimes) boarded a helicopter with his third wife and 5th child, he paused for less than 2 minutes to answer questions from the press.

About Roy Moore.   Well, Trump said that the most important thing was that the Democratic candidate should not win because his record was awful.  As for Moore, he noted that Roy Moore had denied the allegations and we should listen to him.

Just to recap, Democratic Senator Al Franken was accused by one woman in inappropriate contact.  Franken delivered what happened to be a thoughtful apology for his actions and took full responsibility for his actions.  In context, Franken was a comedian at the time.  I'm not excusing his behavior at the time, not is Franken, just giving some context.  Trump basically felt that Franken needed to be tarred and feathered and publicly stoned.

Roy Moore is a Republican candidate for Senate.  He has been accused by multiple women over decades.   The most troubling allegations are that he had a sexual relationship with a 14 year old when he was in his 20s.  I'm providing this information for context only.   Moore admitted that he fell in love with his wife when watching her at a high school dance recital.  She was 14.  Moore was watching this high school concert while he was 29.   However, he denies the allegations and that is good enough for Trump.

I have some experience with conducting abuse interviews.  The first question is not, "did you do it?"  Further, it is really not a revelation that a perpetrator would deny this.  That doesn't mean that you quit investigating or questioning.

Then, Trump was asked in general about all the allegations of sexual misconduct made by women.  Well, Trump said, "he was happy that women were coming forward and that this was a special time."  HAPPY.  Yes, happy, that women have been experiencing so many abuses over the decades and happy that so many women (and men) have had to still reliving their pain in a public forum.

He then noted that women are special.  Special?  Wow.   Freshly laundered sheets are special.  A sunset shared is special.  Hot chocolate in front of a fireplace is also special.   Women are not special.  Individual women are special, of course, but as a gender, we are not special, we are equal human beings.  Why does he continue to trivialize the majority of the voting public.

So, today is Thanksgiving south of the border.  Hopefully, everyone is spending their time with their family reflecting on what they have to give gratitude.  I was hoping this would mean Trump as well as I think we deserve at least one day off from his shenanigans.  Well, apparently he has spent the morning engaged in a twitter feud with LeVar Ball.  I actually know who this is.  I know who LaVar Ball is because he has been parodied on Weekend Edition on Saturday Night Live.  The fact that he is already fodder for jokes make want to make Trump to pass on engaging in a playground struggle of two children sticking their tongues out at each other.   Trump said, among other things, that LaVar is a poor man's version of Don King without the hair.   How Presidential.

For some reason, I am reminded of Vanna White's autobiography.  This was released a couple years into her "stardom" on Wheel of Fortune, before she actually spoke on the show.  The book was titled "Vanna Speaks".  I remember one reviewer saying an old proverb.  Better be silent and be presumed a fool rather than speaking and confirming it.

Please.   Someone share this old proverb with Trump.
