Let It Be
There are so many entertainers out there, it is hard to settle on favorites, but my two current faves are Bruno Mars and James Cordon.
Bruno Mars just radiates happiness. If you can watch this man move and not feel joy, there is something wrong with you. He just has this way of capturing your heart and making you feel happy. He looks like every move coming out of him and every note is effortless. I don't know if that is true or not but it is easy to be transfixed by his music and it makes you feel like all is possible. For me, he is the message that you can be happy where ever you are with whoever you are. Happiness is where the song is.
James Cordon is so gifted and his gift is himself and in sharing his soul, he inspires the world to share their souls and then we all are blessed. Of course, I love car pool karaoke but not just for the singing but for the windows into the souls of the artists he drives around with. (This includes Bruno Mars !!) This week, car pool karaoke had the legendary Sir Paul McCartney driving around the streets of Liverpool. In addition to singing, they toured Paul's teenage home, they drove down Penny Lane, and they stopped in a neighbourhood pub and performed. There were young Brits, old Brits, and Brits of all sizes, shapes, and colours, and they had one things in common. They were all shoulder to shoulder dancing and singing to Sir Paul. They say that an actor or a musician or anyone without political experience should run for office, well, just seeing the magic of unification of Sir Paul, maybe it makes perfect sense for them to do so.
And, while they were driving around, Sir Paul talked about how he wrote "Let It Be". He said it was during the 60s and he was very stressed about the future and if the band was going to be successful. He had a dream that his deceased mother came to him and told him to let it be. In the morning, he wrote the iconic song.
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
It goes on from there, but the message is pure power if you are open to it, let it be. Let things go. Don't try to control what you can't control, let it be.
I have updated this somewhat to be my mantra. I say, "let the universe take care of it." It is the same thing, "let it be", "Let go and let God."
There is no need to search for answers, just let it be.
Everytime I think James Cordon has done a great car pool karaoke, he does another which is even better. What a gift. James Cordon becomes emotional during this car pool karaoke and sheds some personal tears. I won't spoil it for you because I want everyone to watch for themselves. There is no one who can't benefit from watching the two greats just hanging out.
