Some Good News

One of my friends has just become a grandmother.  Well, her grand-daughter is 8 days old, so, I suppose it is not "just" anymore.  In this new reality, we are all looking at our social media more.  She is posting pictures of her grand-daughter every time she moves.  Conservatively speaking, she is posting 20 pictures a day.  I love it!  Seeing new life and seeing the pure joy of being a grand-mother is very welcome news.  Usually, I get irritated when people overshare pictures of their grandchildren, using every opportunity to put a picture up showing how cute their grand-baby is when their grandchild pales in cuteness comparison to precious boy !!  Kidding.

Other good news is how many people are stepping up to help others.  Safeway has become the model of corporate kindness in Canada.  They are probably one of the few companies making money but they are focusing on what is good for everyone and are valuing both their customers and staff.

Today, Coach Ltd. announced they were giving a $2M donation to New York City Small Business Fund to help businesses in New York survive.  Also, they are matching donations of employees for the same fund.

There are hundred examples in Canada of business owners stepping up because we are all in this together.  It appears very clear that corporations who do not exhibit kindness in some way won't be the ones who will be able to recover when this is all over.  Canadians have good memories and corporate greed won't be rewarded.
