CNN Hypocrisy?

My 22 year old daughter doesn't believe in feminism.  We have had many discussions about this.  I have tried to explain to her that feminism is something that everyone (males and females) should all believe in; it simply means that there is no differentiation in treatment on the basis of gender.  I suggest to her that what she believes is that there is no discrimination on the basis of gender.  No, she asserts, she doesn't believe in feminism, and she also believes that males are being subject to gender bias.  Ok, my babydoll, you and I are going to have to disagree on this one.

In reality, I secretly am cheering for her theory. I would love to see a world where there is no gender bias.

One of the reasons that I watch CNN is because of the many strong women that they have anchoring their news desk as well as the many strong women that are senior reporters.  Another reason why I watch CNN is because my mom loved Don Lemon.  I feel sort of obligated to watch him in her memory.  However, I am finding that he has changed since having his own show.  He has gotten a little bit more arrogant and perhaps condescending.  That doesn't seem to happen with female anchors.  Perhaps they have more gratitude for their positions and are more mindful of the struggles of women that came before that has contributed to their success.

Another reason that I watch CNN is because of their specials.  Fareed Zakaria did one of the best specials that I have seen on "Trump's Conspiracy Theories."  Whether you support Trump or not, you will find this special explain the historical and global political factors that have led to conspiracy theories.  It was exceptionally well done.  Tonight, I will looking forward to John Berman's special "Count on Controversy:  A look at Electoral College."

Another special they have promoted extensively is one on the women who have been covering the 2020 Primaries. It focuses on their challenges as women covering candidates all over the country putting in 16 hour days while trying to balance (or have) a personal life.  At least, that is what I am led to believe from the continued promotion of this special.  I don't have an opportunity to watch this special because it only airs on HBO.

So, they can extensively promote this special but they are not airing it.  Seems like hypocrisy to me.

I think our work on ending gender bias needs to continue.
