American Government Shutdown Continues Through Another Monday

The partial government shut-down in the US continues.  Longest in history.  Stupidest in history.  Holding 800,000 workers hostage.  Assuming 80% of those 800,000 have spouses and children, that is a great deal of people affected directly.  Not to mention the millions more affected indirectly.  There doesn't seem to be much hope of a settlement as the orange menace seems perfectly entrenched in his own temper tantrum.  Or, he is using this as a distraction for allegations that he is "really close" to the Russians.  I think that is a ridiculous allegation.  Vladamir Putin may be an evil dictator but he is not stupid.  He would never associate with such an idiot like Trump.

Regardless, I am going to stay in bed as long as I can.  You know what is the worst thing about the shut-down?  Every week day morning, Trump goes somewhere on his helicopter.  (By his, of course, I mean the American people who fund this with their tax dollars.)  But, every week day morning, Trump goes somewhere in his helicopter.  And, he stops and talks to the media.  The helicopter is already running and ready to go so Trump has to  shout as he talks to the media.  I have come to the conclusion that he just gets in the helicopter, goes around the block so to speak, and lands.  I have come to believe that Trump feels he is at his best when he is shouting.

Every time he speaks to the media in a news conference type setting or sitting next to another politiician, he appears uncomfortable.  He can't stand the press.  He has made this abundantly clear.  It literally pains him to treat them with civility.  So, he stands in front of a helicopter and he is in his glory.  He has to shout because the noise of the helicopter.  He yells and points and is in control.  He likes it.  He also doesn't have to worry about annoying aides passing him notes or telling him to use his "inside" voice.  He can shout whatever he wants.

The worst thing is that he wins.  His news "scrum" is always televised.  It is not news.  It is some overgrown toddler having a temper tantrum.  He yells and acts completely void of how you think a President should behave.  It would be hilarious if it wasn't so sickening.

I think I will miss today's dog and pony show and stay in bed.  I know I won't be missing anything.  Unless a miracle happens, I will get to see it tomorrow.
