Busy News Day #6 - WPS Release Missing Person Report Statistics

Yesterday, the Winnipeg Police Service tweeted that over the past year, they have received 7780 missing person reports, averaging 707 per month.

Holy crap.  That is a huge number. That averages out to about 24 each and every day.  That is basically one report per hour 24/7/365.

This is just too much.  The Police Service has responded by initiating Project Return.  The aim is to protect youth who are at a high risk of being sexually exploited and to locate those reported missing.

These numbers are just too high.  Our Police Service is just too busy.  We need to help out to keep each other safe.  If you see a youth at risk, do what you can to be a positive person in their lives so that they have always have someone to turn to when they are in trouble.  If you see something that you think may lead to a youth being exploited, say something.  Do what you can.  Let's look out for each other.  Our youth are our future.  Let's nurture them at every opportunity.
