Curling Makes SNL and It is Safe Place for LGBTQA+

Who says you can't go back?  I feel like my husband because he starts every second sentence with "Back in the 80s....."  Well, back in the 80s, I never missed Saturday Night Live.  It was hilarious.  Then, I didn't watch for a long time, but for the last ten years or so, I am back.  I don't miss Saturday Night Live.  It is hilarious!!  Of course, with our current technology, it is easier not to miss it.  Last nights episode was especially good.

Billie Eilish knocked it out of the park.  She is so talented and displayed her wide range of talent last night.  Can not believe she is not 20 yet.  Where does that wisdom come from?  It was also the episode where Kate McKinnon made her season debut.  It was just great.

At one point, I was worried about Weekend Update.  The whole show had been go great, I wondered if Weekend Update would be able to maintain this high level of hilarity?  Well, it turned out, I had nothing to worry about.  It was fabulous !!  And, as an added bonus, a reference to curling.  Like, how awesome is that?  A curling rock equated to a sex toy !!!  I have to love it.

Speaking of sex, in curling news this past week, Bruce Mouat gave an interview about his sexuality.  He said that he is openly gay.  He says he told his team-mates in 2017 and it was no big deal.  I am sure that when he told his team-mates that it was so big deal.  But, I question the timing.  His wikipedia page was only updated on the day that the article was released and I am sure I saw him with a girlfriend at the 2018 Worlds.  Regardless, who cares?  He notes that curling is a "safe space" for anyone to openly disclose their sexual orientation.  I think that is fabulous.

Curling accepts members of the LGBT community.  That is wonderful.  I am looking forward to the first openly Trans curler.  And, the curling community is more than overdue for a member of the Lesbian community to announce they are living their lives as openly Lesbian.  I hope Bruce Mouat is not only right, but inspiring.

Bruce Mouat is a favourite to win the Gold medal at the Olympics.  I hope he wins, for himself, for his team, for his country, for his national coach, and for the LGBTQ+ community.  Can't wait to support female curlers who come forward.
