Last Night.....

Last night was the one year memorial of the Humboldt bus tragedy.  A horrific tragedy but one that united Canadians.  A horrible tragedy that brought out the best in people and the ripple effects are still being felt.  The bus driver was recently sentenced.  His life is ruined forever.  It didn't matter how much prison time he would get, he would be in his own prison for the rest of his life.  I was proud to be a Canadian and participate in discussions with another Canadians about what they felt was appropriate.  People were expressing good logic and compassion for all involved.  We will always be Bronco Strong.  A bitter reminder of what is important in life and to thank your blessings because it can all change in an instant.

Also, last night was Bob Cole's last broadcast on Hockey Night in Canada after 50+ years in the booth.  He is the only voice of HNIC that I can remember.  A true statesman and a remarkable Canadian and proud Newfoundlander/Labrador.  He has done so much for hockey and for Canada and for those who want to believe that nice guys finish first. A gentleman and someone who just loved the sport of hockey.  A positive ambassador for everything that he touched.  He got the tribute he deserved and it was fitting that his last game was the Leafs vs Habs.  An amazing man who will have an amazing legacy.  Just a good person.  Sad, that he was forced out because of his age.

Meanwhile, cartoon character Don Cherry remains on the air.  'nough said.
