The new Manitoba Party

I don't know if you remember the White House Correspondents Dinner this year.  This annual event is the opportunity for the Press Corps and the politicians to get together to mutually poke fun at each other.  Trump didn't attend.  Comedian Michelle Wolfe hosted and did an adequate job despite her whiny voice.  However, she was largely criticized because people didn't understand her humour.  She didn't go on an apology tour but did indicate that she didn't want the job in the first place.  As a comedian, she wanted to avoid Trump all together.  She felt he is just "too easy".  The jokes just write themselves.  I understand how she feels.  I feel blogging about Steven Fletcher's new political party is too easy.  It just writes itself.

It was first reported in the Globe and Mail that Steven Fletcher was starting his own party.  The name was not yet announced nor were any specifics.  Just that he had a lot of great people to join him and it was going to be great.  Can't you just hear Alec Baldwin doing an impression?   It's going to be great.  Its going to be the best party ever.  That is how you build local support for a political party.  You give your first comments to a national newspaper.  Yeah, Manitobans are sure to respond to that.

The name was not yet announced.  Of course, I assumed it would be "The White People Party".  So, he will have atleast 6 people already.  That will be his base.

Or, the name could be the "Inappropriate Thoughts About Teachers" Party.  Apparently, /he knows every male that was even taught by a certain teacher and knows that they all had inappropriate thoughts about their teacher.

Later, the name was announced.  The Manitoba Party.  The problem with that is that Manitobans as a whole don't have a similar political agenda to rally around.  Manitoba has always been a divide between Winnipeg and the rest of the province.  It is called Perimeter Vision.

Usually, political parties start with a grassroots movement over a particular issue.  This party is starting only because Fletcher can't get along with people so he is building his own sandcastle.  What happens when he can't get along with himself?

Also, starting a new political party in the middle of a civic election is interesting and won't confuse the electorate at all.

I hope Party Stuff has been alerted and ordered adequate supplies.  This is gonna be great.
